Companion questions, and the passages you attach to them, are sent to third-party model providers to generate a response. Today those are OpenAI (ChatGPT models), xAI (Grok models), and models we run through Microsoft Azure.

We ask these providers, by contract, not to use your prompts or responses to train their models, and we send no more than the request needs. Even so, please do not enter health details, financial details, or anything about another person that they would not want shared.

Your conversation history is stored in your account so you can return to it. You can clear a conversation in the app, or ask us to delete all of them.

AI-generated summaries, commentary, interpretations, and responses within this application are independently generated and do not represent official interpretations, teachings, opinions, or endorsements of Course in Miracles Society (CIMS). CIMS licenses the use of A Course in Miracles – Original Edition within this application but is not responsible for AI-generated content or guidance.

Only service providers who need it to do a job for us, under contract: cloud hosting and database, analytics, crash reporting, email delivery, the AI providers above, and Paddle, Apple and Google for payment and delivery.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

CIMS receives quarterly revenue reports as our license requires. Those reports are financial totals. They contain no personal data about you.

We may disclose data if the law compels us, or to protect someone from harm, and in a merger or sale of the business — in which case this policy travels with it.

Account and library data for as long as your account exists, then up to 30 days in backups. Companion history until you delete it or close your account. Analytics in aggregate for up to 24 months. Purchase and tax records for as long as the law requires.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, export it, or delete it. Write to contact@simpleacim.com and we will answer within 30 days. We will not treat you worse for asking.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither — and to limit use of sensitive information. An authorised agent may act for you.

We are based in the United States and most of our providers are too, so data about you is mostly processed there. Paddle, which takes payment for purchases made on this website, is in the United Kingdom. For transfers out of the EEA or UK we rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to those who need it, and passwords are hashed. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

The app is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
